Introducing Fat Forward Books
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INTRODUCING BINDERY TASTEMAKER PAGE FAT FORWARD BOOKS
Denver, CO — Fat Forward Books has launched in partnership with Bindery, highlighting books by fat authors, about fat experiences, and featuring fat characters. Founded by fat, disabled, lesbian writer and editor Samantha Puc (she/they), Fat Forward Books pushes for more and better fat inclusion in the publishing industry.
With over 15 years of experience as an Eisner Award-nominated journalist and Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic, Puc’s work focuses on LGBTQIA+ and fat representation in pop culture.
“I have always wanted to create a fat, bookish community space where people could connect with each other and read more fat books,” said Puc. “Launching this space with Bindery Books for my 35th birthday has been such a whirlwind!”
Puc joins dozens of Bindery Books Tastemakers who are building thriving, bookish communities with intersectionally diverse tastes.
Following Fat Forward Books’s debut in May 2025, the brand has gained a following of nearly 1 thousand across social media platforms. Puc has launched a monthly, virtual book clu and interviewed authors including Meryl Wilsner, Amy Spalding, Denise Williams, and Lizzy Ives.
“I've loved seeing how excited everyone is about this project and it's so encouraging to see how many folks in the bookish community want to see Fat Forward Books succeed,” said Puc. “Ultimately, my goal is to grow this space exponentially and develop a publishing imprint under Bindery Books that focuses on books by fat authors and about fat experiences.”
Throughout Fat Liberation Month (August), Fat Forward Books will feature giveaways, author interviews, themed recommendation lists, guest posts, and Discord community events.
Puc’s bylines have appeared in-print and digitally in outlets including Autostraddle, Polygon, The Beat, The Mary Sue, Publishers Weekly, and beyond. They have also been published in award-winning anthologies including Fat and Queer: An Anthology of Queer and Trans Bodies and Lives (JKP Books, 2021). In addition to their journalism and creative nonfiction writing, Puc is the Community Voices Blog Editor at the National Association for the Advancement of Fat Acceptance (NAAFA), where they uplift fat voices and experiences from a diverse pool of contributors. They recently earned their MFA in creative nonfiction from The New School.
